The Imbotero Research Center (IRC) is a new field facility designed to accommodate international researchers in biological sciences, environmental studies, and cultural/ethnographic subjects.
It is situated in the Barima-Mora Passage Area (BMPA), the largest intact mangrove ecosystem in Guyana, with good access to the Shell Beach Protected Area, one of the world’s premier nesting places for several species of sea turtles.
Eco Travellers is a nature documentary following two travelers (both local and foreign) sharing the unique experience of Guyana's eco tourism destinations within the Rupununi. Along their journey they learn that the country's tourism model is strongly linked with the conservation of biodiversity and the natural environment.
Guyana’s most intact mangrove ecosystems are found within a very special place in Region 1, known as the Barima-Mora Passage. Beyond its rich mangrove population, this area is home to a number of IUCN red listed species, rich biodiversity, and incredible indigenous culture. Coast Land is a Guyanese documentary that speaks to the vulnerability of the country's coastal region which is the home to the majority of the population. It examines the effects of rising sea levels and cyclical erosion which results in massive overtopping and disruption of livelihoods.
Starting from the village of Yupukari, the Reel Team starts their journey on the Rupununi River into the south as they showcase Guyana's adventure tourism product.

Picking up from where they left off, the Reel Team continues along the Rupununi River through the Kanuku Mountains, as they make their way into the south to Wichabai.

On our last episode of the season the REEL Team examines conservation efforts in the South Rupununi and the potential threats faced by biodiversity in the dry savannahs.

We continue our journey as we look deeper into Guyana's sport fishing potential, understanding the importance of catch-and-release, the hardships of filming outdoors, and the surprises our natural environment has to offer.
